First Trimester: Your body is going through so many changes, so it is important to let your spa know that you are expecting. Moms-to-be must avoid any treatments that are high in temperatures, including the sauna, steam room and any heat treatment. It is recommended to stay away from body massages during these crucial first three months.
Second and Third Trimester: By the fifth month of pregnancy, you should avoid lying completely flat on your back. Alternatively, use a few wedge shaped pillows to prop you up, or lie on your side. Do not allow your therapist to perform deep massage work. Particulalry on your legs, which could cause a blood clot to dislodge. Now is the time for light, relaxing massage strokes.
The benefits of regular pregnancy massage include:
-Relieves depression, anxiety, and nervousness caused by hormonal changes.
-Increases blood and lymph circulation. Helps reduce swelling. Improves oxygen supply to baby.
-Relieves muscle discomfort such as cramping, tightening, stiffness, and knots.
-Reduces pain and encourage relaxation, which can facilitate labor.
-Improves muscle and skin tone.
-Provides emotional support through nurturing touch.
-Promotes relaxation and relieve insomnia.
-Relieves stress on weight-bearing joints such as lower back, pelvis, and ankles.

Now, it's time to relax and enjoy the journey!
