We are honored to work with an exceptionally qualified team of experts, including nationally recognized dermatology expert, Carolyn Jacob, MD in Chicago, IL.
A note from Dr. Jacob:
With rapid expansion of skin tissue, the second layer of skin - or dermis - can stretch too quickly and leave behind scarring known as "stretch marks" or striae. They usually come about due to rapid weight gain or growth, and the tendency to develop them is somewhat hereditary. Once this collagen in the dermis has been overstretched, it is difficult to improve its appearance.
Moisturizing the skin and providing collagen enriching antioxidants can help with the overall skin tone and quality. Many ingredients, such as vitamin E, can help your skin to replenish collagen.
Keeping the skin moisturized also helps minimize the pinkness associated with stretch marks and scars, so the regular use of essential oils can be beneficial.
It is important to care for your skin on a regular basis to maintain its elasticity. Daily moisturizing throughout the pregnancy will help keep your skin looking great.
